8. BATTERY BASICS: After leaving a car’s lights on, going for a drive will recharge the battery?!

Updated: Dec 4, 2021

MYTH: As already mentioned in Battery Basics # 2, this is a definite “No”. You will not fully re-charge the battery by going for a drive.

FACTS: In fact, “Surface” or continuous undercharging will lower the capacity of the battery over time and shorten its life. You will also VOID it’s warranty by not recharging it correctly.

SUGGESTIONS: The best way to restore a flat battery is to use an appropriate multistage good quality battery charger.
